BAPTIST CHURCH
WHAT WE BELIEVE
God
We believe in the one eternal God who has always existed. He is triune in nature existing fully as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all things (Genesis 1:1) Nature declares his glory and power. (Psalm 19:1)
We believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God. He was born of a virgin and was fully God in the flesh. (Colossians 2:9) We believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, died on a cross and was raised from the dead to provide eternal life for all who believe. We believe God is Spirit. (John 4:24) The Holy Spirit reveals the truth of God by testifying to Jesus God’s Son. The Holy Spirit is our helper and comforter in times of need. We believe that God is love. (1 John 4:8) God expressed his love for the world by giving his Son Jesus to died on the cross for our sins. (John 3:16) We believe in God’s love for sinful humanity. (Romans 5:8)
We believe that God loves all people regardless of their race, ethnicity or gender.
Holy Scripture
We believe that the bible both Old Testament and New Testament was inspired by God and is his divine word to us. God is the source of inspiration and salvation is it’s end. We believe that all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)
We believe that all interpretations of scripture should be in and through the person of Jesus Christ who is himself the living word of God. (John 1:14)
Salvation
We believe that salvation happens the moment a person truly repents of sin and believes that Jesus is the Son of God who died on a cross and was raised from the dead to save them from their sins. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) We believe that salvation is by God’s grace alone and not by our works or efforts. (Ephesians 2:8) We believe that through faith in Christ a person is saved to live a life that honors and glorifies God.
Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ and exists to live out the gospel and proclaim God’s love to the world. (1 Corinthians 12:27) Faith in Christ alone is its foundation. (Matthew 16:18) The church consists of baptized believers who profess Jesus as Lord and Savior. The church consists of many members whom God has called together to service in unity and love.
We believe the church is called to proclaim the gospel and to encourage faith by loving and serving others in Jesus name. The church lives out its faith under the Lordship of Jesus Christ as the head of the church. (Colossians 1:18)
